# Bulb Lasagna > A browser planner for layered spring-bulb containers ("bulb lasagna"): stack fall-planted bulbs by depth in a pot, > see when each layer flowers in your USDA zone, then get a grower's check and a colour story for the pot. URL: https://bulb-lasagna.skillsafe.ai/ API: https://bulb-lasagna.skillsafe.ai/api.html ## What runs free in the browser - Zone (3-10), pot width and depth, material, light, deer pressure. - 29 generic spring-bulb types (snowdrop, crocus, squills, grape hyacinth, windflower, daffodils, hyacinth, fritillary, tulips by bloom class, camas, alliums, Dutch iris, summer snowflake), each with a colour list. - Automatic depth stacking: deepest layer at its recommended depth but at least 2 in above the pot floor, each layer above at least 3/4 in over the tips of the one below, every layer with at least 1 in of cover. Manual depths allowed. - A pot cross-section with every layer drawn at depth, and a slider that shows what is in flower each half-month. - How many bulbs fit each layer, potting-mix volume, a bloom-overlap matrix shifted about a week per zone, gaps between waves, collisions, crowding, cold pots (roots sit about two zones colder), pre-chill needs in zones 9-10, deer favourites, frost-cracking pots, and the planting window for today's date. - Colour facts per bloom wave: harmony class, warm/cool lean, lightness range, pink-orange clashes. - A pets-and-children note naming the layers widely listed as toxic to dogs and cats (every bulb is treated as unsafe to eat). - Exports: Markdown, a CSV shopping list, a calendar (.ics) with the planting day, a zone 9-10 pre-chill reminder and bloom checks, JSON, a printable planting card. History is saved to the signed-in account (collection `pots`) and mirrored in the browser; a saved pot can be copied as a new one (next year's pot) without overwriting it. All horticultural figures are rule-of-thumb estimates; local weather moves bloom by weeks. ## Metered tasks (one model, routed by the `task` field) - `grow` - grower's check. Returns a verdict (`plant`, `adjust`, `rethink`), one entry per layer with recommended depth and count (`ok` or `change`; changes apply with one button), timing (plant by, chill or shelter, first bloom), 4-8 planting steps, care through flowering, risks and tips. - `colour` - colour story. Returns a verdict (`sings`, `tweak`, `clash`), a story, a read of each bloom wave with its harmony, 0-3 colour swaps restricted to each bulb's offered colours (apply with one button), keeps and tips. Each result offers the other task on the same pot. Every reply is checked against the page's own numbers (layer ids, depths that leave soil below and over the bulbs, counts that fit, swaps that are real options). ## Sources Built on the SkillSafe skills @erichowens/color-theory-palette-harmony-expert (colour story) and @personamanagmentlayer/farming-expert (grower's check).
